Longer bio for stalkerz and/or book report-type people

Robyn Schneider was born in 1986 and spent a dissolute childhood listening to 80’s rock, reading a good deal of Vonnegut, and penning novels that were set far, far away from the idyllic gated communities and shopping malls of her hometown.

Since the age of 12, when she read her first Harry Potter book, Robyn knew that she wanted to become a writer.  At 18, she sold her first novel to Random House, and by the time she graduated college, Robyn had sold six books to major US publishing houses.

Her first novel for young adults, Better Than Yesterday, is about the ever-changing nature of friendship, and the uncertainty one feels when periods of one’s life draw to an end.  Better Than Yesterday is a New York Public Library Best Book For The Teen Age 2008 and, while originally released in hardcover, is now available in much more affordable paperback form.

Her second book, The Social Climber’s Guide To High School, is a tongue-in-chic handbook on making it in your high school’s social scene.  This book is also a New York Public Library Best Book For The Teen Age 2008, a Cybils Award nominee, and is currently in development with ABC Family.

Her Knightley Academy series, for younger readers, was published in March 2010.  The books follow the misadventures of Henry Grim, the first commoner admitted to a boarding school for knights in a version of Victorian England that has gone terribly wrong. Publisher’s Weekly praised the first installment as “lively and entertaining…a welcome change of pace from fictional academies that revolve around magic.” (See Robyn’s secret identity for more info)

In her free time, Robyn enjoys acting, photography and vlogging.  She is a graduate of Columbia University (Barnard College) and is currently earning her masters of medical ethics from the University of Pennsylvania (School of Medicine). In 2009, she turned 23 years old, fell on her butt in front of Rob Pattinson, and had her name misspelled in Vogue.
