HOWEVER. There is this thing called Tumblr, which, if you’re under 25 you’re probably obsessed with, and if you’re over 25, you probably won’t understand the appeal. I was INCREDIBLY SKEPTICAL about Tumblr for a long time.

“So it’s Twitter, except all you do is re-tweet images?” I’d say, wrinkling my nose.

And my younger, more hip friends would shake their heads and emit long-suffering sighs like it pained them to be friends with someone so tragically unhip as to be baffled by a social media craze. So I gave in. Call it peer pressure (it wasn’t), call it a fit of procrastination (far more accurate), whatever it was (it was procrastination. Didn’t we already go over this?) I decided to give Tumblr a go.

FRIENDS, TUMBLR IS THE BEST THING EVARRR.Where else can you find GIFs of elephants on trampolines?

I mean seriously. I died when I saw this. I also emailed it to my agent…and her assistant. I helpfully email them the best pictures of cute animals from my tumblr ALL THE TIME. I’m like their favorite client because of this…obviously.

So I’m still not going to take up regular blogging any time soon, but micro-blogging isn’t quite as horrible as I’d thought. Aha! Look! Someone wearing one of my T-shirts! We totally sold out of those at the conference.(they say “If you like nerds raise your hand, if you don’t raise your standards.”)

One of the paltry few photos of my meet & greet/signing with Kaleb Nation. I suspect he made off with one of my silver Sharpies (the last person to do that was Arthur Darvil and I’m probably never getting that one back. Le sigh.)

If you can ever make it out to Vidcon, please do! It’s an absolutely crazy dance party/hangout/sleepover that lasts an entire weekend…but the sleep deprivation lasts far longer!

I’d only brought a pathetic floral cocktail dress, so the wonderfully adorned cosplayers loaned me some things to wear to the ball. I felt like a slutty goth Cinderella in the most fabulous way possible.

The merch signing/meet & greet was ridiculous! There were so many of you who wanted to buy books and t-shirts, or get posters signed or take pictures that we wound up running 45 minutes over our signing time. I didn’t mind at all. I love meeting you guys, and it was really fun having the three of us there signing merch and books together and joking around and stealing each other’s Sharpies (ahem, Kaleb).

If you’re going, I’d love to meet you! I’ll be giving an interactive talk/Q&A with my friends, fellow videobloggers & authors Kaleb Nation and Shawna (Nanalew) on the main stage at 11:15AM on Saturday, and we’ll be having a meet & greet afterward at noon. I hope to see a bunch of you there! I (obviously) made some videos about the event, which I’m putting below. The first is part of a really cool TEMPORARY COLLAB CHANNEL that I’m doing with Kaleb where we upload videos straight from our iPhones during Playlist Live, so you guys can see what the performers are getting up to, whether you’re at the event or stuck at home.

It wasn’t until I got home that I saw all of these tweets about it. The hardcover came out on March 9, so I assumed the paperback was ALSO coming out on March 9, exactly a year later. Yeah, I assumed wrong. Oops.
